Fellow Star Wars Fans,
Our boycott of the Weinstein Company's
latest film "Superhero Movie" was a massive success! According to the
Hollywood Reporter: "The movie mustered up a gross of only $9.5 million
despite several predictions of a $14-milion-$19 million bow." (Do THAT math,
Darth Weinstein!)
But according to this
Variety article, a
spokesman for Weinstein Co. said "the protest had very little, if any,
impact on the film's box office."
Oh really? Then why did your movie
TOTALLY BOMB, Mr. Spokesman?
There can only be two explanations.
Either it was the boycott of your studio by Star Wars fans across the
country OR it was the fact that you made a crappy unfunny movie that no one
wanted to see. So which is it? If we were you guys, we'd blame the boycott.
Because you've still got to try and make your money back on the Superhero
Movie DVD, don't you?
Can the Weinstein Co. know how much money
our boycott is costing them? No they can't. But it's easy to figure how much
money they'd be losing every day if we ended our boycott. ZERO!
This quote is also from the Hollywood
Reporter: "Despite the fact that the Weinstein Co. received more than
300,000 e-mails from fans, a Weinstein Co. source said there were only
around 3,000 e-mails addressed to 150 Weinstein employees."
You guys are just making numbers up now,
aren't you? We have less than 70
Weinstien Co. email addresses here on our site, so how did all those
emails reach 150 employees? If you're going to backpedal and pretend fans
around the world aren't upset with your studio, at least get your numbers
straight!
The real question you should be asking
yourselves is: "Why have we chosen to piss off the majority of the Star Wars
fans on the planet, when what we really want is for them to see our movies?"
We know what a lot of you are thinking:
"Boycotting Superhero Movie was EASY. I wasn't going to see that piece of
crap anyway!" Well, unfortunately the next target of our boycott is going to
sting a little bit more. It may actually require some sacrifice. The
Weinstein Co. is releasing "The Forbidden Kingdom" on April 18th and it
looks like a pretty good kung-fu flick. Jackie Chan and Jet Li! We'll all be
really bummed if we have to skip it in theaters. Luckily, Kristen Bell's
movie Forgetting Sarah
Marshall is opening the same day and it looks hysterical.
Kristen is one of the many reasons we're all dying to see FANBOYS!
The good news is that we want to see the
original version of FANBOYS in theaters a hell of a lot more than any other
movie the Weinstein Company has coming out this year. So...
We will continue to boycott every single movie/DVD that has a Weinstein
Co. or Dimension Films logo until the Weinstein Co. issues another press
release stating that they will:
1. Give Fanboys back to the
Star Wars fans who made it.
2. Release the original version of FANBOYS in
theaters!
We can hold out for as long as it takes,
Darth Weinstein. Star Wars fans are patient. We waited 16 years between
Episode I and Episode IV, remember?
Hopefully, the Weinstein Company will
just give the fans of FANBOYS what they want. Then we can end the boycott
and focus our attention back on the upcoming CLONE WARS animated series!!
In the meantime, our boycott continues to
receive loads of press:
We really hope you guys issue another
press release soon. Or this boycott is going last longer than winter on Hoth!!!
One last thing - the press continues to
incorrectly state that the Stop Darth Weinstein Movement and the 501st
Legion are somehow connected or worse, that they're the same thing. THIS IS
NOT TRUE. Although there are 501st members who support our cause, the
majority of us are just regular Star Wars fans and are in no way affiliated
with the 501st Legion. See their official
statement on their website. It's totally incorrect for the press to
keep referring to us as "the 501st." We are the Stop Darth Weinstein
Squadron! Our apologies to the Legion for dragging their good name into our
ongoing battle with Darth Weinstein.
The boycott continues! Stay on target! The Force Is With Us!
